Your screenshots stay on your Mac.
The Snix app collects no data about you. It has no account, no analytics and no servers of its own. Everything you capture, mark up or open is processed on your Mac, and Snix never uploads any of it.

What Snix collects
Nothing. Snix doesn’t ask you to sign in, and it contains no analytics, advertising, tracking or crash-reporting code. The app doesn’t connect to the internet, so it has no way to send us anything.
Snix declares this to Apple too: its privacy manifest states that it tracks no one and collects no data.
Your screenshots, images and PDFs
Capturing, marking up, covering, recognizing text, optimizing JPEGs and exporting all happen on your Mac. What Snix stores, it stores there:
- Your files are saved where you choose. If that is a folder synced by iCloud Drive or another service, that service syncs them.
- Unsaved work is copied to a recovery folder in your Library (Application Support › Snix) so it can be restored after a crash. The copy is removed once you save the project or discard the work.
- Temporary files made when you drag out or share an image go into a Snix-Exports folder in the Mac’s temporary folder. Each time Snix makes a new one, it deletes those more than a day old.
- Settings such as your shortcuts and language are kept in macOS preferences on your Mac.
Text recognition and AI
To let you select and copy text in images, Snix uses Apple’s Vision framework, which recognizes text on your Mac. No image or text is sent to any AI service, ours or anyone else’s, and nothing you open in Snix is used to train a model.
When a file leaves your Mac
Snix never uploads anything by itself. A file leaves your Mac only when you send it, by dragging, copying, exporting or sharing it. From there, the place you choose handles it under its own privacy policy: the app you drop it into, a synced folder, or the service you pick in the macOS Share menu.
Covers are painted into exported, copied, dragged and shared images, so what was under them isn’t in the file. A .snix project keeps the original image under its covers so you can still edit them: share the exported image, not the project. How covers work.
Permissions
- Screen Recording is the one permission Snix needs. Snix reads the screen only when you start a capture, and the picture goes straight into a Snix window on your Mac. You can turn it off in System Settings › Privacy & Security › Screen & System Audio Recording.
- Open at login happens only if you turn it on in Snix’s settings.
Apple and the Mac App Store
Downloads, purchases and payments go through Apple and are covered by Apple’s privacy policy. We don’t receive your name, your Apple Account or your payment details.
If you chose to share analytics with app developers on your Mac, Apple may give us crash reports and usage numbers that don’t identify you. We use them only to find and fix problems in Snix. You can turn this off in System Settings › Privacy & Security › Analytics & Improvements.
Keeping and deleting your data
The Snix app sends us nothing, so we hold no data from it. Everything Snix stores is on your Mac and yours to delete at any time:
- your saved files;
- the recovery folder in Application Support › Snix;
- the Snix-Exports folder in the Mac’s temporary folder;
- Snix’s settings in macOS preferences.
Moving Snix to the Trash removes the app but not these files. To take back Snix’s access to your screen, turn off Screen Recording as described above.
If you email us, we keep your message only as long as we need it to help you, and we delete it sooner if you ask. To ask, write to privacy@snixapp.com.
This website
snixapp.com sets no cookies and uses no analytics, advertising or trackers. Its fonts and images come from this site itself, not from font or image services. If you pick a language, your browser remembers it in its own storage and doesn’t send it to us, though the address of a translated page, such as /zh/, shows its language.
The site is hosted on Cloudflare, which processes request details such as your IP address to deliver the site and protect it from attacks, under Cloudflare’s privacy policy. We don’t use this information to identify or track visitors.
Children
The Snix app collects no data from anyone, including children.
Changes to this policy
If our practices change, we will update this page and its date first. No version of Snix that changes what it collects will be released before this page says so.
